Motive Revealed in Virginia City Councilman Fire Attack

A Danville City Councilman was allegedly set on fire in his office two months ago, with charges filed against a 29-year-old man accused of the attack. Shotsie Michael Buck-Hayes faces attempted first-degree murder and aggravated malicious wounding for allegedly pouring gasoline on Lee Vogler at Showcase Magazine, where Vogler worked, then setting him ablaze outside the building.

During a preliminary hearing in September, Danville Police Sgt. Gerrit Clay testified that Buck-Hayes told investigators he targeted Vogler because of an alleged affair with his wife. The case has drawn attention to the violent nature of the crime, with no justification for such actions. Legal experts emphasize that disputes must be resolved through lawful means, not extreme violence.

The incident remains under investigation, with court proceedings ongoing. No further details about the individuals involved have been disclosed beyond the charges and testimony presented.
