A recent image posted by NASA claiming to depict the Artemis II spacecraft during its lunar mission has been identified through reverse image searches as dating back to at least 2017.
The photo, which shows Earth and the Moon, has been criticized for an apparent inconsistency: when the spacecraft is reported to be halfway to the Moon, the lunar body appears significantly smaller than expected.
Additionally, NASA’s Artemis II mission, launched on April 1, 2026, has experienced a temporary malfunction in its toilet system that emitted a burning smell shortly after launch. The crew includes astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen.
