Mark Levin, a prominent neoconservative commentator, attempted to deny that he and his ideological allies had advocated for American troops on the ground in Iran. However, evidence from Twitter users reveals that Levin himself has consistently called for such deployments.
In an online post, Levin asked followers to name specific neoconservatives who support boots-on-the-ground operations in Iran. Responses identified Ben Shapiro, a well-known podcaster, and Lindsey Graham, former U.S. Senator, who argued that the Marines should land on Kharg Island.
Shapiro stated that Americans are willing to accept casualties for regime change in Iran, criticizing those who claim the public is too sensitive to war’s costs: “We do understand that war does come along with casualties, and we are willing to undergo those casualties in pursuit of an end and a victory for America.”
Graham recently told a television host that he trusts the Marines to handle such operations, drawing parallels to Iwo Jima.
John Podhoretz, a commentary editor, concluded on a podcast that the Iran conflict has already damaged Trump’s political standing and the Republican Party’s chances in November elections.
Sean Davis, co-founder of The Federalist, added: “Every time the neocons fail, which is every single time they do anything, they tell us it was everybody’s fault but theirs.”
