Tech giant Palantir has relocated its headquarters from Denver, Colorado, to Miami, Florida, according to an announcement Tuesday. The company stated it changed its principal executive office address to 19505 Biscayne Blvd., Suite 2350, in Aventura—approximately 20 miles north of Miami—while retaining its former Denver location at 518 17th St. as a secondary address.
Palantir, which has faced criticism for expanding government surveillance through artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology, was the largest publicly traded company in Colorado. Founded by billionaire Peter Thiel and led by CEO Alex Karp, the firm recently drew attention after activists behind the “Purge Palantir” database publicized its donations to two Colorado Democratic officials: U.S. Rep. Jason Crow of Aurora and Sen. John Hickenlooper. Both vowed to redirect those funds toward immigrant-rights organizations.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis acknowledged he was unaware of the move before it was announced. “I was not notified,” Polis said during a Tuesday news conference at the Colorado Capitol. “I don’t know what the announcement means. Obviously, what I would be looking into is: Does it affect any jobs here in Colorado?” Polis noted that as many as 600 people directly or indirectly work for Palantir in Colorado and stated he had requested a meeting with company executives.
Florida officials reacted sharply to the relocation. Governor-elect candidate James Fishback declared, “As Governor, I will ban you from all government contracts. You are a threat to our civil liberties.” Meanwhile, Florida’s Council of 100 hailed the move as a “watershed moment” for national security and AI innovation, with President and CEO Michael Simas stating: “Palantir’s decision to relocate its headquarters to Florida’s Gold Coast is a powerful validation of where growth is happening in America.” The council recently launched the “Ambition Accelerated” initiative alongside investors Ken Griffin and Stephen Ross to attract high-wage industries to South Florida.
