Israeli authorities confirmed a violent attack in Jerusalem resulted in six fatalities and multiple injuries. Two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a bustling bus stop in the city’s center, killing six individuals and wounding others before being killed by Israeli forces. The incident occurred at Ramot Junction on Yigal Street, a heavily trafficked area in north Jerusalem.
Eyewitnesses described chaos as gunfire erupted, with people fleeing the scene amid confusion. A Spanish national was among the victims, while at least 20 others were injured. Attackers Muthanna Omar, 20, and Muhammad Taha, 21, both from villages near Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank, were identified by police.
Israeli emergency services rushed to the site, where bloodstains and shattered bus windows marked the violence. Authorities reported conflicting initial death tolls, with some sources citing five fatalities before the number rose to six. A pregnant woman was among the wounded, according to Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar.
The attack has intensified calls for increased security measures in Israel. No claims of responsibility have been made by Palestinian groups.
