While critics of President Donald Trump have questioned his efforts to enhance the nation’s capital as a cleaner, safer, and more beautiful district, ScottsMiracle-Gro has pledged $1 million in “monetary and product support” to repair the White House lawn following celebrations marking the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The company, led by a supporter of the Trump administration, confirmed that the donation is for restoration without taxpayer funds. ScottsMiracle-Gro chief operating officer Nate Baxter stated: “It was really interesting to watch our tour scientists and President Trump talk through each of these,” referencing Trump’s background in golf courses.
Aerial images taken after an earlier UFC event showed significant damage to the nearby Ellipse, including large patches of discoloration and stripped dirt. The extent of repairs to the South Lawn remains under assessment.
ScottsMiracle-Gro has a history of supporting both political parties through individual contributions and affiliate organizations, having donated $500,000 to the Make America Great Again Inc. super PAC in the 2024 election.
