Shooting at Dallas ICE Facility Leaves Multiple Injured; Shooter Dead by Self-Inflicted Wound

A shooter opened fire at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed multiple injuries and fatalities, stating the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. “While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop. Please pray for the victims and their families,” she said.

Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons described the suspect as a “possible sniper” during an interview, noting three individuals were injured and hospitalized. Deputy Director Madison Sheahan later clarified no ICE officers were harmed in the attack. This incident marks at least the third targeted shooting at an ICE or Customs and Border Protection facility in Texas this year.

In July, a coordinated attack on a Prairieland Detention Center left a police officer wounded. A month later, a man with a rifle killed himself after firing on a McAllen Border Patrol facility, injuring two officers and a Border Patrol employee. In August, authorities arrested a man who claimed to have a bomb at the same Dallas ICE facility targeted Wednesday.
