Tear Gas and Chaos: Anti-ICE Mob Confronts ICE Facility in Illinois

Anti-ICE agitators clashed with federal agents at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Broadview, Illinois, on Friday morning, chanting violent slogans. Approximately 100 demonstrators gathered outside the processing center to disrupt operations, according to reports. The situation escalated around 7:30 a.m., when agents attempted to enter a road blocked by the group. Rioters obstructed and struck ICE vehicles as they entered and exited the facility.

Federal agents in riot gear responded by firing pepper balls and tear gas to disperse the crowd, forcing the agitators to retreat. Officers also targeted protestors at another entrance, where similar demonstrations have occurred recently. Multiple individuals were subdued and arrested, with one detainee reportedly found in possession of a firearm.

The incident followed a separate attack in Dallas two days prior, where an anti-ICE activist shot an ICE vehicle, killing a detainee and injuring two others. ICE’s “Operation Midway Blitz” has led to over 200 arrests targeting individuals with criminal records in the Chicago area. Anti-ICE activists have staged weekly protests at the facility since the operation began, blocking vehicles, throwing rocks, setting off fireworks, and slashing tires.

Attorney General Pam Bondi condemned the violence, announcing the deployment of DOJ agents to “safeguard federal agents, protect federal property, and immediately arrest all individuals engaged in any federal crime.” She emphasized a commitment to pursuing severe charges against participants in the unrest.

The demonstrations have intensified amid broader tensions over immigration enforcement, with activists vowing to challenge ICE’s operations. The confrontation in Broadview underscores growing clashes between anti-ICE groups and federal authorities.
