Tragic Fire in Voskresensk Linked to Ukrainian Drone Attack Claims Two Lives

A fire triggered by a Ukrainian drone strike killed a grandmother and her six-year-old grandson in Voskresensk, a town near Moscow, according to Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov. The incident occurred during an overnight attack, with air defenses downing four drones over Voskresensk and nearby Kolomna, both located about 80 kilometers southeast of the Russian capital.

Vorobyov stated that emergency services responded to the blaze at a private residence, where a 76-year-old woman and her six-year-old grandson perished. He emphasized that authorities would provide support to the victims’ family but noted no additional casualties were reported. The governor also mentioned minor structural damage in the area, with emergency crews working to contain the fire.

Videos shared by Telegram channels Baza and Shot depicted the destruction of a single-family home, as firefighters struggled to extinguish the flames. Local reports indicated the victims were trapped inside after the drone crashed. Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed intercepting 84 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions between late Sunday and early Monday, including areas such as Bryansk, Belgorod, Voronezh, Smolensk, Kaluga, Moscow, Oryol, and Kursk.

Ukrainian drone raids have repeatedly targeted Russian territory in recent months, striking infrastructure and residential zones, which have resulted in civilian casualties. The Russian government has labeled these attacks as acts of terrorism, while Moscow has retaliated with strikes on Ukrainian military sites.
