Trump Administration Allegedly Offers Mayor Eric Adams Position in Exchange for Dropping Re-Election Bid

A source revealed that the Trump administration has reportedly approached New York City Mayor Eric Adams with an offer of a federal position if he abandons his re-election campaign to weaken the prospects of Democratic front-runner Zohran Mamdani. The individual, described as having direct knowledge of the discussions, stated the administration proposed a role at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development during Adams’ recent visit to Florida.

Republican figures, centrist Democrats, and business leaders have expressed concern over Mamdani’s potential leadership, with former governor Andrew Cuomo—running as an independent—emerging as a preferred alternative to challenge Mamdani. However, Cuomo suffered a decisive defeat in the June Democratic primary, leaving his general election viability uncertain despite some polls suggesting he could rival Mamdani with cross-party support.

Adams has not explicitly denied meeting with Trump advisers during his Florida trip or confirmed whether he plans to exit the race. As an independent candidate, Adams remains in the contest despite trailing in polls. Meanwhile, intermediaries for the administration have engaged with Adams’ associates about the possibility of him withdrawing, though no specific job offer has been disclosed.

The Trump team also reportedly discussed potential roles for Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa, though he has previously rejected federal positions. John Catsimatidis, a New York billionaire, stated in an interview that Trump is deeply concerned about Mamdani’s rise and that the race’s outcome could shift rapidly.
