Trump Files $15 Billion Defamation Lawsuit Against New York Times

President Trump has launched a $15 billion defamation and libel lawsuit against the New York Times, accusing the publication of decades-long false reporting targeting him, his family, and his political movement. The legal action was announced on Truth Social, where Trump described the newspaper as one of the “worst and most degenerate” in U.S. history, alleging it serves as a “mouthpiece” for the “Radical Left Democrat Party.”

Trump emphasized that the lawsuit addresses what he called unlawful campaign contributions through the Times’ endorsement of Kamala Harris, which he claimed was prominently featured on the newspaper’s front page. He further accused the publication of systematically lying about his business dealings, the America First Movement, and the MAGA agenda. The case is being filed in Florida.

The lawsuit follows Trump’s earlier threats to take legal action against the Times over its coverage of his ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein. Recent reports by the newspaper included details about a sexually suggestive note and drawing linked to Epstein, prompting Trump’s latest legal move. The president cited prior successful litigation against media outlets like ABC/Disney and CBS/Paramount, where he alleged “document and visual alteration” as part of a “malicious form of defamation.”
