The structure, which could commemorate America’s 250th anniversary in 2026, features a winged golden angel and flanking eagles, according to images shared by AFP White House Correspondent Danny Kemp.
The design, spotted as Trump met Finnish President Alex Stubb, includes two models: one depicting the arch near Arlington Cemetery across the Potomac River from the Lincoln Memorial, and another with intricate details. The concept aligns with a September Facebook post by “Donald Trump for President,” which showcased a similar blueprint linked to the 250th-anniversary celebrations.
Historical references highlight the triumphal arch’s origins in Rome, where such structures marked achievements or infrastructure projects. A City Journal op-ed proposed the monument as a symbol of America’s centennial and semiquincentennial milestones, noting precedents like New York’s Washington Arch. While no official plans have been released, the idea has sparked discussion about its potential to honor national history.
The White House has not commented on the model, but the proposal reflects Trump’s ongoing focus on large-scale projects, including renovations at the White House and new architectural elements.
