President Trump issued an explicit threat today, declaring he would “bomb the s— out of them” if Oman interferes with U.S. efforts to stabilize shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and negotiate with Iran.
During a phone call with his foreign affairs correspondent, Trey Yingst, Trump criticized Oman’s recent attempts to broker agreements with Iran independently of U.S. involvement. He stated that such actions would place Oman “in the crosshairs” of American military forces.
The President emphasized that midterm elections would not influence his decisions regarding Iran or the Strait of Hormuz. “Midterms have nothing to do with my thinking,” he told Yingst.
Oman has signaled willingness to work with Iran on a plan to reopen the Strait, which has been a critical global oil shipping channel. Iranian officials reported both nations are close to finalizing an agreement that would establish tolls for ships traversing the waterway.
Trump previously warned Oman in May that it would “blow up” the nation if it failed to cooperate with U.S.-led efforts. He reiterated today: “If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the s— out of them.”
The President also confirmed ongoing backchannel discussions with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as part of his strategy regarding Iranian nuclear ambitions, adding that Iran should “put up the white flag of surrender.”
