President Trump announced he would resume bombing Iran “immediately” if diplomatic talks collapse before the current U.S.-Israel ceasefire expires tomorrow. Speaking on CNBC’s Squawk Box, the president stated he is “ready to go” and will target Iranian forces again without a negotiated settlement.
Trump emphasized that U.S. military operations have already been used to restock munitions, claiming the armed forces are now “raring to go.” He further asserted Iran possesses no choice but to negotiate, declaring: “We’ve taken out their navy, we’ve taken out their air force, we’ve taken out their leaders… We’re in a very strong negotiating position.”
The president also rejected claims that Israel influenced his decision to launch military action against Iran. On Truth Social, Trump stated: “Israel never talked me into the war with Iran… IRAN CAN NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON.” He insisted U.S. forces have “so much ammo” and are significantly more powerful than weeks ago.
Trump defended the timing of the strikes, noting that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu briefed White House officials about two weeks before the conflict began. He claimed Netanyahu’s warnings—about Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz and regime change—were dismissed by U.S. intelligence as “farcical,” with CIA Director John Ratcliffe labeling the assertions “bullsht.”
The president reiterated that Iran must sign a pact with the United States to become “a legitimate nation again,” criticizing its leadership as “bloodthirsty” rather than “tough in a good way.” Trump maintained U.S. forces are prepared for immediate action, stating: “Well, I expect to be bombing… because I think that’s a better attitude to go in with.”
