President Donald Trump has announced plans to cancel the opening musical program of the Great American State Fair and replace it with a “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN” rally, effective June 25. The decision follows reports that several performers withdrew from the event.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated he would take over as headliner, claiming his popularity surpasses Elvis Presley and that he is the greatest president in U.S. history. He described the withdrawing artists as “third rate.”
The announcement coincided with Trump’s Fox News interview with his daughter-in-law Lara Trump, wife of President Trump’s son Eric Trump. During the interview, Trump claimed the United States produces double the amount of oil compared to Russia and Saudi Arabia combined.
The Great American State Fair, organized by Freedom 250, was originally scheduled to feature Martina McBride, Young MC, Bret Michaels, The Commodores, and Morris Day and The Time. All performers withdrew, stating they deemed the event “political.” Vanilla Ice will perform at the event, describing it as a nonpartisan celebration of unity.
Trump also criticized U.S. District Court Judge Christopher Cooper for his recent ruling regarding the Kennedy Center, accusing him of judicial misconduct in blocking the administration’s plans to close the venue for renovations and remove his name from the building.
