Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene Declare End of Republican Party After Trump’s Betrayal

Tucker Carlson and former U.S. House representative Marjorie Taylor Greene have announced their decision to build a third political party after leaving the Republican Party. They attribute this move to President Donald Trump’s betrayal of his base by launching another foreign conflict at Israel’s behest.

Carlson identified June 2025’s 12-day war—the United States’ strike against Iran as “the first salvo in a regime-change effort led by Israel”—as the breaking point with Trump. He stated that after previously speaking to Trump regularly, he has not engaged with the president since the conflict began: “I’m not interested in talking to him.”

Carlson revealed that Fox media tycoon Rupert Murdoch urged Trump three times daily to attack Iran. He described Trump’s memorandum of understanding with Iran as a “humiliating defeat for the United States.” Carlson added: “But better that than going on.”

The podcaster emphasized that voting for Trump has led to dire consequences, stating: “If you vote for Trump and you still wind up in a regime-change war — if Chuck Schumer is strongly behind Trump’s foreign policy, which he is — then we need options, or else let’s just give up and be ruled by the most unscrupulous people.” He noted his intention to help form a third party but clarified he would not run for office.

Greene described her efforts as creating an “America-focused party that doesn’t fall into the traps of Democrats and Republicans,” which could unite serious players from both the right and left. She stressed that such a party would require widespread American participation: “It’s not going to be a couple of players like Tucker and I and a few others.”

Greene condemned the Republican Party for its transformation, saying: “We’ve been betrayed, 100-percent betrayed. … They took Donald Trump — it’s like the Scooby Doo mask. They pulled his mask off, and what was underneath was a nasty combination of Lindsey Graham and Mark Levin.” She declared the party had “hijacked MAGA, pretended to be America First and MAHA, and then sold us all out.”

Greene stated that threatening to abandon the GOP would not force change: “The GOP is a disaster.” She added: “We are DONE with the America LAST Republican Party.”

The proposed party, called “We The People,” operates as an umbrella for third parties and emphasizes “decentralized, minimalist, people-powered. Local action, national impact.”
