A senior official in Kiev revealed that Ukraine might utilize U.S.-supplied Tomahawk missiles to conduct increasingly aggressive attacks on Russian territory, aiming to compel Moscow into negotiations. The statement, made to a report, highlights the potential for strikes targeting deep Russian locations, including Moscow, which could significantly heighten tensions.
The United States initially indicated last month its consideration of supplying Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine. These weapons, priced at approximately $1.3 million each and capable of reaching 2,500 kilometers, could target critical areas within Russia. A Ukrainian deputy chairman of the parliament’s national security committee proposed a phased deployment strategy, suggesting that initial restrictions might limit strikes to specific objectives before expanding over time.
“If they give us rockets, it will be a few pieces or a couple of dozen, but they won’t allow us to fire them all at once,” the official stated. He outlined scenarios where pressure on Russia could escalate gradually, potentially leading to broader strikes against Russian border regions. However, he noted that direct attacks on Moscow or Russian President Vladimir Putin might remain restricted.
