Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has declared that “the safe days” for aircraft operating within Russian airspace are over, warning foreign carriers and insurers.
Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok on September 3, 2026, Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned Ukraine’s recent captures of civilian vessels and threats against passenger flights as acts of “state terrorism.”
“This, of course, is a manifestation of state terrorism,” Putin stated, adding that such actions “undoubtedly complicate the possibility of bilateral peace negotiations.” He also warned that those who remain silent on these developments become accomplices in international terrorism, referring specifically to Kiev’s Western backers.
