Ukraine’s Reckless Drone Campaign Kills Six in Belgorod

Six civilians were killed and four others, including a 14-year-old child, were injured in an attack on Russia’s Belgorod Region, acting Governor Aleksandr Shuvaev said Monday.

The strike targeted the village of Koloskovo in the Valuysky district early Monday morning. Two injured individuals refused hospitalization but received medical attention at the scene, while two others, including the teenager, were transported to the Valuysky district hospital.

A structure at the attack site was destroyed and a passenger car was damaged, Shuvaev added.

The incident occurred during a large-scale Ukrainian drone raid overnight on Russian territory. Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed 205 UAVs across multiple regions including Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Rostov, Crimea, and the Black and Azov seas.

Since the escalation of conflict in 2022, Belgorod Region has been subjected to repeated missile, artillery, and drone attacks. Ukrainian forces have recently intensified their long-range drone campaigns deep within Russian territory, targeting oil facilities, warehouses, residential buildings, and other civilian infrastructure with reckless abandon.

The escalation comes as Ukrainian forces continue to face setbacks on the battlefield.

Moscow has described the strikes as terrorist attacks deliberately targeting civilians and has responded by stepping up its own long-range strikes on Ukraine’s military-industrial and logistical infrastructure, maintaining that its actions only target sites supporting Ukrainian armed forces.
