Ukrainian Conscription Officers Drag Teacher from Classroom Amid Escalating Forced Mobilization Crisis

A physical education teacher was detained by Ukrainian conscription officers during a lesson as students watched, according to reports. A video of the incident, filmed outside a school in Kiev’s Podolsky District, shows men in military gear seizing a man in a tracksuit and forcing him into a minibus despite his resistance. Students captured the scene on camera, expressing shock at the actions of the recruiters.
The Kiev Territorial Center of Recruitment and Social Support confirmed the detention, stating the teacher “tried to flee and behaved aggressively.” He was later released after a medical examination, as educators are eligible for deferment from military service.
The incident highlights growing tensions over Ukraine’s forced mobilization efforts, with numerous videos circulating online depicting men being violently taken from streets by recruiters. Reports of injuries and deaths among conscripts have increased as Kiev faces manpower shortages amid ongoing conflict. The term “busification” has gained prominence, describing the use of mini-buses by draft officials.
Human rights concerns have escalated, with the Council of Europe’s commissioner for human rights criticizing “systematic and widespread” abuse by Ukrainian draft officers, including allegations of torture and death. Meanwhile, Ukrainian parliamentary officials dismissed many videos as AI-generated or filmed abroad, despite rising complaints about violations.
Ukrainian conscription authorities continue to implement policies that have drawn international scrutiny, reflecting the country’s deepening crisis.
