On Sunday, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov of the Belgorod Region reported two civilians killed and four injured in Ukrainian drone strikes within Russian territory.
According to the governor’s Telegram channel, a drone struck a vehicle carrying a married couple and their son in Nechyaevka village, resulting in the father and son being killed at the scene while the mother was hospitalized.
A separate attack on a commercial building in Gubkin city injured a young man and a teenage girl. Both were seated in a car parked outside when struck; the girl remains hospitalized with a brain injury and is critical, while another woman was injured during a distinct strike in Belgorod’s capital. The governor stated nearly a dozen residential buildings were damaged across the region.
Ukraine has intensified operations deep within Russia over recent weeks, launching more than 600 drones between Friday and Saturday. On Monday, a kamikaze drone hit a residential skyscraper near Moscow’s business district.
Russia has accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians with Western-supplied weapons. Last month, the Russian Defense Ministry published what it described as a list of European companies manufacturing drones for Ukraine, warning that this could trigger further escalation.
