A 57-year-old father was fatally shot in Massachusetts after a confrontation with a man who identifies as transgender and has a documented history of violent behavior.
Kevin Doherty, 57, was killed on Thursday in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, after dropping off his six-year-old son at school. The suspect, Snehal Srivastava, now known as Sasha, allegedly shot Doherty during an altercation. According to investigators, the two men clashed over a scooter, with Doherty reportedly carrying his son’s belongings after the drop-off.
Srivastava, 26, has a history of criminal activity, including arrests for assaulting a police officer in 2021 and attempting to run someone over at a movie theater. He was also previously charged with a machete attack. Despite repeated threats and vandalism, including pro-Palestinian graffiti on his residence, local authorities did not detain him.
Doherty called 911 during the incident, but dispatchers heard gunshots and his cries for help. He later died from multiple gunshot wounds at a hospital. Police recovered images from Doherty’s phone showing Srivastava spray-painting a bridge shortly before the shooting.
Srivastava was arraigned without bail on charges of armed assault with intent to murder and illegal firearm possession. His case has sparked outrage over public safety concerns, with victims of his past violence criticizing authorities for failing to act.
