The White House has posted an unidentified aerial phenomenon (UAP) video from 2013 on its official social media account. The footage, labeled DOW-UAP-PR38, is part of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE).
The one minute and forty-six seconds of infrared video, captured by a U.S. military platform in the Middle East, depicts an area of contrast described as resembling an eight-pointed star with arms of alternating length.
The government still cannot explain what this object represents.
This file was submitted by United States Central Command to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office on May 8, 2026. The Department of War launched PURSUE as part of its effort to release declassified UAP materials in the interest of transparency. The program involves multiple federal agencies including the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Energy, NASA, and the FBI. The collection is available at WAR.GOV/UFO.
According to the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service (DVIDS), the report consists of one minute and forty-six seconds of video footage from an infrared sensor aboard a U.S. military platform in 2013. The observer did not provide any written or verbal description. DVIDS describes the video as showing an area of contrast resembling an eight-pointed star with arms of alternating length that moves within the field of view and exits the screen by about 30 seconds.
The Department of War noted that many materials have not yet been analyzed for final resolution of anomalies. The government does not claim to know what these objects are but has released them for public review.
This particular file remains unresolved after more than a decade, having been submitted to the anomaly resolution process in 2013 and still without a conclusive explanation.
The release follows years of criticism that the government was hiding UAP-related information. President Trump ordered agencies to identify and declassify such files in the interest of transparency.
More files are scheduled for public release under PURSUE.
