Alaska Democrats’ Secret Spoiler Candidate Plot Exposed in Senate Race

Alaska Democrats have been caught attempting to steal an election from incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan by confusing voters.

The federal Justice Department has filed a 14-page complaint alleging that Democratic operatives recruited Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., a retired teacher from a small fishing village in Alaska, to run as a third candidate on the Senate ballot for the purpose of siphoning votes away from Senator Sullivan and helping Democratic candidate Mary Peltola win.

According to the complaint, Daniel J. Sullivan changed his party affiliation from Democratic to Republican shortly before the election, worked with a Democratic consultant, and voted for Democrats in the last three presidential elections.

Peltola’s former campaign manager, Elisa Rios, stated that Peltola was “definitely aware” of the conspiracy but not directly involved. The operation began in the summer of 2025 when a staffer received instructions to find Dan Sullivans across Alaska.

Text messages reviewed by federal authorities show months of communication between Peltola’s campaign and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee about recruiting spoiler candidates.

The complaint seeks to invalidate any loss for Senator Sullivan if it is determined that voters who intended to support him instead voted for Daniel J. Sullivan.
