Amazon Pledges $25 Billion Data Center Investment Across Mississippi, Creating 2,000 Jobs

Amazon has announced a $25 billion investment in Mississippi to establish data center operations, with plans to create 2,000 high-skilled jobs across the state.

The company detailed its commitment during Thursday’s announcement, noting that it broke ground on its first data center campus in Madison County two years ago—the largest capital investment in Mississippi’s history at that time. That initial project was followed by a $3 billion planned investment in Warren County.

“Today, we’re proud to share that our total statewide planned investment has reached $25 billion, with plans to create 2,000 high-skilled jobs across all our Mississippi data center operations,” Amazon stated.

Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves highlighted the company’s recent moves: “$25 billion total investment. 2,000 total jobs. Amazon is investing another $12 billion and creating 800 more jobs across Madison and Hinds County. That makes $25 billion and 2,000 jobs in announcements in Madison, Warren and Hinds counties in just the last two years.”

Reeves added: “The company isn’t just reinvesting in our state—they are again betting on our people. Mississippi has momentum and THIS is our time!”

Amazon’s expansion plan includes an additional $11 billion investment in Madison County and a $1 billion investment in Hinds County, where it will transform the former Delphi manufacturing plant into a cutting-edge data center facility.

The company emphasized that its infrastructure powers critical services people rely on daily—from healthcare systems improving patient outcomes to agricultural innovations helping farmers grow more food with less water and research capabilities at unprecedented scales. These advancements directly address real-world challenges and enhance lives.

Beyond technology, Amazon’s investment is generating economic opportunity. In Madison County alone, over 75 Mississippi companies are engaged in construction and operations, employing thousands of workers including electricians and technicians.

David Zapolsky, Amazon’s Chief Global Affairs and Legal Officer, stated: “Amazon’s $25 billion investment in Mississippi to build data centers will create 2,000 high-skilled jobs and bring new energy generation to the grid.”

Zapolsky continued: “We’re covering all our energy expenses, increasing our investment in Madison County, expanding into Warren County, and transforming a former manufacturing plant in Hinds County—producing reliable infrastructure that will serve Mississippi for generations. Governor Reeves and local leaders have been outstanding partners, and we’re just getting started.”

Reeves added: “This is what transformational economic growth looks like. And it’s happening right here, right now.”

In Canton, Amazon has launched four dedicated STEM learning spaces inside elementary schools called Think Big Corners. These programs, focused on science, technology, engineering and math, can reach 10,000 students annually and are already operating in Canton and Madison County schools.

Canton Public School District Superintendent Dwight Luckett noted the investment prepares students for careers that do not yet exist: “Not only is Amazon allowing us to prepare students for today, but they are also preparing our students for tomorrow—for job opportunities, investment opportunities, business opportunities, workforce opportunities.”

Additionally, Amazon is supporting food security in Mississippi by handling 17 of the 66 monthly food pantry deliveries for Extra Table Feeds. The statewide nonprofit, which operates with only two full-time employees and zero federal funding, delivered over 220,000 meals in 2025.

Martha Allen Price, executive director of Extra Table Feeds, explained: “When we are able to save money, more Mississippians receive meals.”
