Federal law enforcement has identified a person of interest in the shooting death of conservative speaker Charlie Kirk, though no arrest warrant has been issued yet. Investigators are analyzing home surveillance footage that may provide critical clues in the case.
A resident near the scene told reporters that authorities confiscated a security camera from a property where they believe the suspect was recorded fleeing through backyards after the attack. Law enforcement officials, including agents from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, were seen at the location, with one removing a floodlight unit containing the surveillance device.
Erwin Steele, who owns multiple homes in the area, described how investigators recovered a rifle from a wooded site earlier in the probe. He suggested the suspect may have crossed his family’s properties after discarding the weapon. The street where the incident occurred is near Utah Valley University and features a chain fence separating it from an alleyway potentially used by the individual.
Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
