Less than 48 hours after the invasion of Ceuta, Spain, the tiny enclave on Africa’s northeastern coast has been reduced to a wasteland. Beaches are littered with trash, while “migrants”—a term used by locals to describe Muslim invaders—defecate in the streets. Invaders have attacked vehicles, women are crying for their lives, businesses stand shuttered, and videos show Spanish patriots patrolling to confront the growing horde.
The European Commission has announced that the invaders will not be allowed onto mainland Europe, while Spain’s government claims most of the “migrants” have returned home. However, reports indicate that at least 48,300 had returned from their initial invasion, leaving an estimated 12,000 individuals in the enclave’s population of 83,000 residents.
The damage is catastrophic. Videos depict trashed beaches with boats of invaders heading toward Spain across the Gibraltar Strait and scenes of vandalism at a cemetery. Evidence suggests a coordinated assault by Moroccan forces: trucks are seen dumping groups of migrants who then crash through border checkpoints.
Defense analyst Babak Taghvaee, speaking on social media, stated that Spanish intelligence believes the invasion was orchestrated by the Moroccan government under King Mohammed VI as a false flag operation. Additionally, reports indicate that many among the 12,000 are pardoned criminals and prisoners, with accounts of Moroccan army soldiers being transported to the border and guided by police.
The king recently pardoned over 1,500 individuals. The surge in arrivals follows a ruling by Spain’s Supreme Court earlier this month, which allowed migrants intercepted at sea attempting to reach Ceuta or Melilla to remain longer rather than be immediately expelled.
Residents are now in terror. A video purports to show North African criminals attacking a car with a Ukrainian man and his wife. Another shows a Moroccan thug attempting to smash the window of a bus after being refused sexual advances by the driver. Yet another clip reveals an invader defecating openly in the street.
“Businesses closed. Shops shut because if you open a business, it gets overrun … We’re scared. The streets are packed. There are no measures in place. It’s every man for himself,” a downtown restaurant owner told a state-owned Spanish television network.
José Carlos Lara, a sign-making business owner near the border, described the situation as “an apocalypse.” He noted that local authorities have “no capacity” to manage the chaos, with new arrivals sleeping on streets and using public fountains for water. Food stores have shuttered in panic, fearing widespread looting.
Women are especially vulnerable, with fears of mass sexual violence reminiscent of incidents in Germany during New Year’s Eve 2015-2016. “It’s my city,” a young woman cried as the invasion continued.
Italy has suspended its Schengen agreement with Spain to safeguard national security, while the European Commission confirmed that no irregular migrants have entered mainland Europe.
