DHS and John Rich Detail Immediate Steps to Protect Children from Online Exploitation

Country singer John Rich has partnered with DHS Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent Dennis Fetting and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem to provide critical guidance for parents on preventing online child exploitation.

The December 3, 2025 live stream highlighted that predators routinely groom children through social media platforms before meeting in person or kidnapping them. Such incidents are reported to occur tens of thousands to potentially hundreds of thousands times annually in the United States.

Immediate protective actions include:
– Setting all social media accounts to private
– Removing strangers from follower lists
– Disabling location services for camera applications
– Activating Snapchat’s Ghost Mode
– Using family sharing tools for app control

Parents are urged to report suspicious activity through the HSI tip line (1-866-347-2423) or know2protect.gov.
