Elon Musk’s Political Donations Reach Record $366 Million in Current Election Cycle

Elon Musk has contributed over $366 million to federal committees during the 2025-26 election cycle—a figure that surpasses the total he directed toward political efforts during the previous 2024 cycle, which totaled approximately $290 million. According to disclosed financial records, Musk’s donations have surged since July, with his contributions to Republican-aligned entities totaling more than $276 million across both cycles.

Musk’s most significant recent pledge came in the form of a $158 million contribution to the Senate Leadership Fund, the primary super PAC supporting Republican candidates for the chamber. This allocation alone represents one of the largest political donations in American history and exceeds the combined contributions raised by Democratic opposition groups during that same quarter.

Additionally, Musk has funneled over $76 million into America PAC, a super PAC he founded in 2024, which has deployed extensive voter outreach operations across seven Senate battlegrounds and nearly thirty House races. The initiative specifically targets hard-to-reach Republican voters through a sprawling canvassing program.

Musk’s financial footprint extends to Texas, where SpaceX and Tesla are headquartered. He recently allocated $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC supporting Attorney General Ken Paxton in the state’s Senate race and $20 million to the Congressional Leadership Fund backing House Republicans. His contributions also include $10 million to the Republican Governors Association and $2 million to the Republican Attorneys General Association.

This spending pattern marks a stark contrast to Musk’s May 2025 public statement, in which he declared his intention to reduce political expenditures following his stepped back from active roles during President Donald Trump’s administration. The shift aligns with Musk’s expanded federal ties through SpaceX, which serves as a major contractor for NASA and the Pentagon, alongside his recent designation as co-director of Project Meridian—a Pentagon initiative examining future warfare strategies.
