FBI Deputy Director Daniel Bongino Faces Possible Exit from Agency

According to recent reports, FBI Deputy Director Daniel Bongino may soon make a significant decision regarding his future at the agency.

Sources indicate that Bongino’s office has been largely cleared out, with his chief of staff reportedly assuming a leadership role in Baltimore.

Bongino, 51, was observed in his Washington office on Friday before allegedly informing numerous special agents in charge across the FBI’s 56 field offices that he would be leaving his position. By Friday evening, his Washington office had been reported empty.

However, conflicting accounts have emerged: one report claims Bongino’s office is not empty but is being prepared for a decision about his departure.

Bongino’s tenure at the FBI has come under recent fire alongside Director Kash Patel. Earlier this month, an internal report by a coalition of active-duty and retired agents described the bureau as directionless under current leadership.

In response to these claims, Bongino defended the agency’s reforms: “When the director and I moved forward with these reforms, we expected some noise from the small circle of disgruntled former agents still loyal to the old Comey–Wray model.”

As of now, Bongino has not made any public decisions regarding his future at the FBI.
