Former DNI Tulsi Gabbard Shares Update on Husband’s Cancer Recovery

Earlier this year, former director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s husband, Abraham, was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer known as sacral chordoma. Following the diagnosis, Gabbard announced her resignation from President Donald Trump’s cabinet in May to support her husband through his treatment.

According to an emotional video uploaded to social media, Gabbard detailed Abraham’s progress after surgery. “A few weeks after the surgery was done, the pathologist and doctors said they were confident all cancerous bone and tissue had been removed,” she stated. “Almost three months later, he began a rigorous physical therapy program.”

Gabbard noted that while Abraham remains frustrated by his slow progress—sometimes pushing himself too far—he is advancing steadily. She emphasized that the recovery journey continues: “The reality is that the battle isn’t over yet.”

Abraham has since undergone successful surgery and is now in physical therapy, though he requires frequent MRIs to monitor for recurrence. Gabbard confirmed her husband remains cancer-free at this time but stressed ongoing medical follow-up is essential.

Gabbard’s resignation from the Trump administration as director of national intelligence occurred following her decision to prioritize her husband’s health. She previously stated the couple’s commitment to their family and medical team during this difficult period.
