Former TV Anchor Allegedly Stabs Mother During Halloween in Shocking Crime

A former television news anchor was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing her elderly mother to death on Halloween, according to reports. Angelynn Mock, 47, reportedly attacked her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, while she was in bed and later called emergency services claiming she acted “to save herself.”

Witnesses in Wichita, Kansas described the harrowing scene as Mock emerged from a residence soaked in blood around 8 a.m. on Friday, according to local outlets. Alyssa Castro, a neighbor, told KAKE that Mock approached her vehicle with blood covering her hands and body, pleading for help before returning to the home. Authorities were informed of the alleged stabbing, and when officers arrived, Mock was found outside with visible wounds on her hands.

Avers was discovered unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab injuries and later died at a hospital 30 minutes after being transported, police confirmed. Mock was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, held without bond due to the severity of the alleged crime.

Mock previously worked as a news anchor for Fox 2 in St. Louis from 2011 to 2015 before transitioning to sales roles, according to her LinkedIn profile. Her motive for the alleged attack remains under investigation, and details about her court appearance have not yet been released.
