Hamas Agrees to Key Provisions of Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

Hamas has reportedly agreed to release all Israeli hostages under the terms of US President Donald J. Trump’s proposed Gaza peace plan, according to reports. The militant group signaled readiness to enter mediated negotiations to finalize details, as stated by Reuters.

Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were the first to endorse the White House’s proposal. The plan demands Hamas disarm and relinquish control over Gaza, though it does not explicitly address the creation of a Palestinian state, a stance Netanyahu has previously opposed.

Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people and taking over 250 hostages. Israel launched a military operation in Gaza that has resulted in more than 65,000 Palestinian deaths, according to Hamas-run health authorities, though Israel disputes the figures. Currently, Israel believes 48 hostages remain, with 20 thought to be alive.

Trump issued a warning to Hamas, urging an agreement by Sunday evening. He described the group as a “ruthless and violent threat” responsible for the October 7 massacre, claiming over 25,000 Hamas fighters have been killed. The president emphasized that remaining Hamas members would face consequences if an agreement is not reached, while offering a final opportunity for peace.

The plan includes an immediate ceasefire, hostage exchanges, Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and the disarmament of Hamas. It also outlines a transitional governance structure led by an international body, with Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace” overseeing Gaza’s redevelopment. Additional measures include humanitarian aid, economic zones, and security arrangements to ensure stability.

Trump’s 20-point proposal was disclosed after meetings with Netanyahu, emphasizing the creation of a “deradicalized terror-free zone” in Gaza. The plan outlines staged Israeli withdrawals, hostage releases, and long-term governance reforms, with regional partners guaranteeing compliance.
