Harvard Campus Explosion Under Investigation as Suspects Flee Scene

Authorities are investigating after an “intentional” explosion rocked Harvard University’s Longwood Medical School campus on Saturday. Boston police released surveillance footage of two suspects, who were seen wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts. The blast occurred around 2:45 a.m., triggering a fire alarm and prompting a response from the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD). Two individuals fled the building when an officer arrived, with the officer failing to stop them before entering to assess the alarm. A sweep of the facility by the Boston Fire Department confirmed the explosion was deliberate but found no additional devices. The FBI is assisting university police in the investigation, which involves coordination with local and federal agencies. The incident follows a period of heightened scrutiny for Harvard amid ongoing discussions about federal funding and legal challenges.
