The families of hostages in Gaza have urged the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award President Donald Trump the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in advancing a plan to release Israeli captives. According to reports, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum sent a letter to the committee, highlighting Trump’s efforts to end the conflict.
The group stated that Hamas has agreed to free all Israeli hostages under terms outlined in Trump’s Gaza proposal. “President Trump’s comprehensive plan to release all remaining hostages and finally end this terrible war is on the table,” the families wrote. They expressed hope that his initiative would conclude the crisis and restore peace to the region.
The letter emphasized Trump’s commitment, noting, “We are confident that he will not rest until the last hostage is brought home.” It also credited him with delivering “light through our darkest times” during a previous ceasefire.
Trump has been nominated for the prize multiple times since 2018, including by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who cited the U.S.’s role in ending the Israel-Iran conflict. The Nobel Committee is set to announce its winner on October 10.
At the United Nations, Trump claimed he “deserved” the award for his efforts to end wars, including Israel’s two-year-long campaign in Gaza. However, experts suggest his chances are low, as the committee prioritizes long-term peace initiatives and global cooperation.
