Diane Keaton, the iconic actress renowned for her roles in “Annie Hall,” “The Godfather,” and other acclaimed films, has passed away at the age of 79. Her family confirmed the news, though no specific cause of death was disclosed.
Keaton rose to prominence in the early 1970s with her role as Kay Adams-Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather” (1972) and its sequel “The Godfather Part II” (1974), where she portrayed the troubled wife of mobster Michael Corleone, played by Al Pacino. She later became a household name for her performance as Annie Hall in the 1977 film, which earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress and solidified her status as a Hollywood legend.
Her career spanned decades, with notable roles in “Marvin’s Room,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “Book Club,” and “Summer Camp” (2024). She also collaborated extensively with Woody Allen, appearing in films such as “Play It Again, Sam,” “Sleeper,” and “Manhattan.” Keaton’s unique style—marked by tuxedos, bowler hats, and black-rimmed glasses—made her a fashion icon.
Beyond acting, she explored writing, directing, photography, and singing. She is survived by her two sons, Dexter and Duke.
Keaton’s final public post on Instagram, shared in April 2024, featured a photo with her Golden Retriever, Reggie. Her legacy endures as one of Hollywood’s most influential performers.
