Man Arrested After Open-Fire Incident Near Trump Golf Course With ‘Joker’-Style Rifle

A man wielding a rifle painted in “Joker”-inspired markings was arrested for opening fire and running through traffic near the Trump National Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Authorities identified the suspect as Sean Steiner, 36, of Glendale, Arizona.

According to Los Angeles Sheriff’s Lomita Station, Steiner allegedly ran into traffic on Palos Verdes Drive South around 5 p.m. on March 29 while carrying a loaded rifle painted green and purple with the phrases “Why so serious?” and “Let’s put a smile on that face.” The weapon bore additional markings, including “HA HA HA HA” and an orange tip designed to resemble a toy gun.

Witnesses reported Steiner hiking in the area with a duffel bag, step stool, and rifle before the incident. Authorities stated he admitted to firing one of the pistols near a landslide area to “get some anger out.” The rifle was found loaded with a round chambered and a full magazine inserted.

Investigators recovered additional weapons during the arrest, including two loaded handguns, high-capacity magazines, extra ammunition, a ballistic vest, and an AR-style pistol with an orange tip. Steiner’s possession of multiple firearms and the weapon’s distinctive appearance drew attention from law enforcement.
