The Department of Homeland Security has arrested a criminal illegal alien in Maryland, according to federal officials. Antonio Israel Lazo-Quintanilla was taken into custody earlier this month after police caught him allegedly driving without a license. The mugshot of Antonio Lazo-Quintanilla has gone viral due to his 666 tattoo on his forehead.
Lazo-Quintanilla is wanted in El Salvador for aggravated homicide, extortion, and possession of drugs, according to DHS. While his only crime in the United States is driving without a license, authorities learned he is wanted for numerous crimes in his home country. “Seventy percent of ICE arrests are of criminal illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the United States,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “This gang member on El Salvador’s most wanted list is a perfect example of ICE targeting the worst of the worst.”
Antonio Israel Lazo-Quintanilla is “a confirmed member of the 18th Street Gang” in El Salvador, which has been designated a foreign terrorist organization by the Trump administration, according to DHS. The statement emphasized that this criminal illegal alien is clearly a public safety threat despite lacking a violent rap sheet in the U.S. “In reality, ICE is arresting criminal illegal aliens before they can victimize Americans,” McLaughlin added.
The arrest comes as part of a broader effort by ICE to target gang members, terrorists, human rights abusers, and foreign fugitives who lack a rap sheet in the U.S. 70% of the illegal aliens arrested by ICE have been charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S., but this statistic doesn’t count all categories. The DHS had more details to share on the gang members’ arrest: “Earlier this month, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a criminal illegal alien who is a confirmed member of the 18th Street Gang, a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), and was on El Salvador’s most wanted gang members’ list.”
Lazo-Quintanilla’s case highlights the ongoing efforts by ICE to address threats posed by criminal illegal aliens, despite media claims that ICE is not targeting the worst of the worst.
