Michigan Representative Targets HHS Secretary in Impeachment Bid Amid Health Crisis Claims

Michigan’s Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) has formally introduced articles of impeachment against U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., accusing him of endangering public health through conspiracy theories and pseudo-policies that undermine medical progress.

In her statement, Stevens emphasized that Kennedy’s actions have dismantled decades of critical medical research, escalated healthcare costs, and jeopardized community safety. “Under his watch, families are less safe, health care costs are skyrocketing, and lifesaving research—including right here in Michigan—is being gutted,” Stevens stated in a video release. She characterized Kennedy as “the biggest self-created threat to our health and safety,” asserting that he has “turned his back on science” and must be removed from office.

Stevens reiterated that Kennedy’s policies have resulted in “gutted lifesaving research, restricted vaccines, and ignored science.” She declared, “Enough is enough. RFK Jr. must be removed from office.” The filing follows recent impeachments by Michigan Democrats against other Trump Cabinet members, including Rep. Shri Thanedar’s articles of impeachment against War Secretary Pete Hegseth for alleged extrajudicial conduct.

HHS spokesman Andrew Nixon stated that Kennedy “remains focused on improving Americans’ health and lowering costs,” but Stevens maintained her position that the secretary’s actions constitute a direct threat to public welfare.
