Shocking Flight Gone Wrong: Small Plane Hits Car on I-95 in Florida

A small plane crashed into a car on Florida’s Interstate 95 near Merritt Island, according to reports. The incident occurred during an emergency landing when a Beechcraft 55 aircraft reported engine trouble.

The crash happened in Brevard County, where a 57-year-old woman driving a 2023 Toyota Camry sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. The pilot and passenger—both aged 27—were unharmed but remained at the scene.

According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the aircraft experienced a “loss of power in both engines” prior to impact. Video footage revealed the plane’s debris near the roadway, with the car’s trunk crumpled and its nose and wheel severely damaged.

Witnesses described the harrowing moment. Jim Coffey, who was driving at the time, said he saw the plane drop from the sky seconds before it struck another vehicle. “I noticed it was there, because there’s a plane right there, I was like, ‘Hopefully it lands to the side,’” his son Peter Coffey added. “I thought it might maybe aim around and not hit the car, but bam, the wheel just smacked right dab on the back of the car.”

The incident occurred on December 10, 2025, as the aircraft attempted a safe landing on the highway.
