The New York Knicks issued a “cease & desist letter” to mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani after his campaign used the team’s logo in an advertisement. The ad, which aired during the Knicks’ home opener on Wednesday night, depicted an amateur basketball game and featured an altered logo replacing “Knicks” with “Zohran.” The team condemned the use of its intellectual property, stating it could mislead the public into believing Mamdani’s campaign was affiliated with or endorsed by the franchise. A report revealed Mamdani’s team removed the ads after the Knicks’ legal action. The dispute occurs ahead of New York’s November 4 mayoral election, where Mamdani is a leading Democratic candidate.
