Phoenix Court Evacuated After Explosive Package Discovered in Mailroom

The Arizona Supreme Court building was evacuated Tuesday following the discovery of a suspicious package containing homemade explosives in its mailroom.

Court officials confirmed staff were alerted to a hazardous situation after preliminary testing indicated the package contained materials consistent with explosive devices. Authorities immediately ordered an evacuation of the courthouse and surrounding parking areas as a precautionary measure.

Bomb squads and hazardous materials teams were deployed to secure the site, conduct a thorough building sweep, and remove the package. Federal law enforcement agencies responded to the Phoenix location near 15th Avenue and Washington Street, where state government buildings are concentrated.

No injuries have been reported, and officials stated the facility will remain closed until investigators determine the origin and intent of the package and confirm the site is safe. The exact timing of when the package was sent to the court or who dispatched it remains unknown at this time.

Authorities emphasized the evacuation followed an abundance of caution due to the confirmed explosive materials in the package.
