Trump Announces New Executive Order Mandating Voter ID Requirements

President Donald Trump has announced plans to sign an executive order requiring all voters to present identification for every ballot cast. The measure aims to strengthen election security by implementing strict voter verification protocols.

Trump detailed the proposal on Truth Social, stating: “Voter I.D. Must Be Part of Every Single Vote. NO EXCEPTIONS! I Will Be Doing An Executive Order To That End!!! Also, No Mail-In Voting, Except For Those That Are Very Ill, And The Far Away Military. USE PAPER BALLOTS ONLY!!! President DJT.”

The order would expand on a March executive action that mandated proof of citizenship for federal election registration. This new directive would introduce additional requirements, particularly in states without current voter ID laws. It also seeks to eliminate mail-in voting except for specific cases, such as military personnel stationed abroad and individuals with severe illnesses.

The announcement comes amid efforts to reform the electoral system, bypassing legislative delays by leveraging executive authority. Trump’s actions reflect his continued focus on what he describes as safeguarding election integrity.
