President Trump has issued a sharp warning to Colombian President Gustavo Petro, demanding he immediately shut down Colombia’s cocaine operations “fast” because the United States “knows where they are.”
The remarks followed Petro’s recent criticism of U.S. government actions regarding Venezuelan oil tankers and his claim that Southwestern America constitutes stolen territory.
During a Monday press conference at Mar-a-lago, Trump labeled Petro a “troublemaker” and stated he was planning land strikes “not just on Venezuela, but anywhere drugs are pouring in.”
Petro previously argued that territories including Texas, California, and much of the southern United States were invaded rather than purchased from foreign powers.
Trump imposed sanctions on Petro and his family members in October, following Petro’s criticism of U.S. actions regarding Venezuelan assets.
Tensions between the two leaders have escalated amid ongoing confrontations involving Venezuela over oil tanker seizures in the Caribbean.
