As the persecution of Christians in Nigeria persists, President Trump has issued a stark warning to the Nigerian government, demanding an end to the violence or face U.S. military intervention. The Department of War has been ordered to prepare for “wiping out the Islamic Terrorists” responsible for attacks on Christian communities.
Trump’s statement, shared on Truth Social, threatens to halt all U.S. aid to Nigeria if the country fails to address the escalating violence. He emphasized that the U.S. would act “guns-a-blazing” against those committing “horrible atrocities,” citing the systematic killing of Christians and destruction of churches since 2009. Over 50,000 Christians have been killed and 18,000 churches burned in the conflict, according to reports.
The President also announced Nigeria’s addition to the “Country of Particular Concern” list, highlighting what he called an existential threat to Christianity in the region. He urged congressional leaders to investigate the crisis and demanded immediate action against “radical Islamists” responsible for the violence.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth confirmed that military preparations are underway, as Trump framed the situation as a global imperative to protect religious minorities.
