The U.S. Secret Service has placed an employee on administrative leave after the individual made inflammatory comments about Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk following his death. A spokesperson stated, “The U.S. Secret Service will not tolerate behavior that violates our code of conduct. This employee was immediately put on administrative leave, and an investigation has begun.”
According to reports, Anthony Pough, a Secret Service agent, posted on social media: “If you are Mourning this guy … delete me. He spewed hate and racism on his show.” Another source within the agency described the post as “dangerous,” noting concerns about an individual sworn to protect others’ rights while mocking someone exercising those same freedoms.
Pough’s Facebook posts reportedly criticized former President Donald Trump, his administration, and policies, but one comment stood out as particularly offensive. The agent attributed Kirk’s assassination to “karma,” writing: “At the end of the day, you answer to GOD and speak things into existence. You can only circumvent karma, she doesn’t leave.”
Secret Service Director Sean Curran addressed staff in a memo, emphasizing the need for neutrality. “Politically motivated attacks in our nation are increasing — seemingly every day,” he wrote. “The men and women of the Secret Service must be focused on being the solution, not adding to the problem.” Curran reiterated that agents must uphold “the highest standards of conduct on and off duty” and avoid bias toward political affiliations.
Pough, described as being in “Phase 2” of his career, had not been assigned to protect Trump but could be called upon for presidential coverage. The agent’s remarks coincided with heightened scrutiny over the agency’s conduct amid ongoing national tensions.
