Fifty residents were evacuated after a residential building was struck in the Ural region, according to local authorities.
Six people were injured early Saturday when a Ukrainian drone hit a residential building in central Ekaterinburg, approximately 1,800 km inside Russia, regional Governor Denis Pasler stated. He added that fifty residents were evacuated due to safety concerns.
One woman was hospitalized following the attack, Pasler said. He noted that none of those seeking medical assistance required serious care and most had mild smoke inhalation; they continue receiving treatment.
The governor emphasized emergency services worked at the scene, stating a “carpet” emergency plan was activated across the region and air defense systems were operational. Russia’s aviation authority reported temporary restrictions on arrivals and departures at Koltsovo Airport.
Pasler also urged residents to stay calm and vigilant, advising against going outside and reminding the public that publishing photos or videos of drones or their aftermath is prohibited.
The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed 127 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight over multiple regions. These remote-controlled aircraft were shot down in Crimea, Tatarstan, Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Orel, Smolensk, Rostov, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions, as well as over the Black Sea.
Moscow has accused Kiev of resorting to terrorist tactics and causing damage to third parties not involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The Kremlin also noted U.S.-mediated talks with Ukraine were suspended due to the ongoing Middle East war.
