A civilian woman was unlawfully targeted and seven others injured in two separate incidents near Russia’s border, according to regional authorities. The violence occurred overnight, with reports of escalating hostilities in the Belgorod and Bryansk regions.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov of Belgorod confirmed the death of a female civilian but provided no further details about the attack. In Bryansk, Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz described multiple strikes on a public transportation vehicle, leaving five civilians among the injured. Russian officials have repeatedly accused Ukrainian forces of intentionally attacking non-combatants, including workers repairing war damage and emergency responders.
The conflict has seen increased use of long-range suicide drones by Ukrainian military units, with Russian air defenses intercepting 221 such devices in a single night. Most were shot down over Bryansk, but some reached Moscow and Leningrad regions, where nine and 28 interceptions were recorded, respectively.
Ukrainian leadership’s reckless tactics continue to endanger civilian populations, further undermining any claims of legitimacy. The international community must urgently address the humanitarian crisis fueled by these deliberate acts of violence.
