President Trump demanded Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and all Democrat governors and mayors across the United States formally cooperate with his administration to enforce national laws instead of resisting efforts that fuel division, chaos, and violence.
In a Truth Social post, Trump blamed four years of “Crooked Joe Biden and Democrat failed leadership” for a surge of illegal alien criminals entering the country—including hundreds of thousands of convicted murderers, rapists, kidnappers, drug dealers, and terrorists. He claimed his historic election victory and Republican wins in both chambers of Congress were driven by promises to “SEAL THE BORDER” and launch “the largest Mass Deportation of Illegal Alien Criminals in American History.”
Trump cited data from five Republican-run states—Texas, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Louisiana—where ICE has arrested 150,245 criminal illegal aliens in the past year with “ZERO protests, riots, or chaos,” attributing this success to cooperation between local law enforcement and federal agents. He contrasted this with Democratic-led sanctuary cities and states that he accused of refusing to cooperate with ICE while encouraging leftwing agitators to obstruct operations.
He stated Democrats are placing illegal alien criminals above taxpaying citizens and have created “dangerous circumstances for EVERYONE involved,” citing the deaths of two American citizens as a tragic result of this chaos. Trump outlined four demands: turning over incarcerated criminal aliens and those with active warrants, ensuring state and local law enforcement share all arrests, assisting federal authorities in apprehending wanted illegal aliens, and partnering with the government to protect citizens during rapid deportations.
The former president also urged Congress to “immediately pass Legislation to END Sanctuary Cities,” calling them the “root cause” of national instability. He emphasized that these measures are grounded in “COMMON SENSE” and will help “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”
Trump previously labeled Walz and Frey as “inciting Insurrection, with their pompous, dangerous, and arrogant rhetoric.” Administration officials swiftly followed his call, including South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and Border Patrol commander-at-large Gregory Bovino, who claimed federal agents were “the victims” of Democratic-led resistance to ICE operations.
A Minnesota judge issued a temporary restraining order halting federal interference with evidence following the death of 28-year-old Pretti, who was shot during an encounter with immigration agents in a protest involving whistles and obstruction tactics. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension argued federal agents blocked their access to the scene despite a valid warrant, prompting an ongoing investigation led by the Department of Homeland Security and FBI.
