Following Karoline Leavitt’s resignation as White House Press Secretary, Alina Habba—Trump’s former attorney—has been considered a potential replacement. During an appearance on Benny Johnson’s show today, Habba confirmed she is “absolutely” open to the role if it is offered to her.
Earlier speculation suggested Habba was Trump’s top choice to replace Leavitt. However, in response to these rumors, Habba previously denied being in the running for the position. She stated on social media on August 19 that she is not in the running for any job but added: “However, if I’m getting a new one, I’d love for one of these anonymous sources to let me know first.” She also remarked, “Fake news remains the undefeated champ … well … until I come at them.”
The White House has yet to name its replacement for Leavitt. Trump’s silence on the matter has intensified speculation and prediction market bets. Prior to her social media post, Kalshi trades gave Habba a 39% chance of becoming the official spokesperson.
After her August 19 post, CNN conservative commentator Scott Jennings emerged as the new favorite, followed by Anna Kelly, Leavitt’s principal deputy press secretary. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, political adviser Katie Miller, and White House Communications Adviser Margo Martin have also been floated by analysts.
As of Monday afternoon, Kelly leads the guess list with Kalshi bettors assigning her a 27% chance, while Habba stands at 6%.
